It was a joyful day for the University community as it witnessed the 73rd birthday ceremony of the Co-Founder Dr Cecilia Ibru.
Dr. Cecilia Ibru is an executive and entrepreneur who maintains an involvement in professional, academic, and philanthropic endeavours. Born and raised in Nigeria, Dr. Cecilia Ibru moved to England for her post-secondary education, where she completed her A-levels in Economics, British Constitution, and History thereafter she got admission into the London University to study for a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc) Degree in sociology. After graduating with honors from London University, Cecilia Ibru went on to obtain a Masters of Philosophy from North East London University, followed by a Certificate of Eligibility from the Council of Legal Education London.
Dr. Cecilia Ibru has been acknowledged for her work as a philanthropist as well, she formerly served as a Trustee to the United Nations Development Fund for Women, where she performed as an Honorary Ambassador for the Women Entrepreneurs Forum and took part in the United Nations Global Compact. In addition, she has sat on the Governing Board of Delta State University and Chaired the Public-Private Immunisation Foundation for the Nigerian National Immunisation Programme.
The event would be very much described as a cake party by an unaware guest because it had beautifully decorated cakes of different sizes. The Michael and Cecilia Ibru University represented by staff and students went prepared as they surprised the celebrant with customized gift cards and a brand new iPhone which was presented by the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyinka Fuwape. Also, the Michael and Cecilia Foundation College of Education (MCFCOE) came bearing customized cards as it is known to be one of the Co-founders favourites. The Association of Agbarha-Otor Students representative came to honour the Co-founder for her contribution towards the progress of the education in the community.
Dr. Cecilia Ibru, overwhelmed by love showed so much excitement as she danced to the Michael and Cecilia Ibru Demonstration Schools Orchestra while they played various tunes to celebrate the Co-founder.
